Arena Interviews:
John Gilbert – Rink Attendant
1. What are some of the preparations being made for the game?
Netting was put up, internet and telephone lines, extra plug-ins for skate sharpeners, etc, seats around glass, 2 cameras – one on each end, everything has to be clean for the game.
2. Are you fixing up the change rooms or anything like that?
Not really, each team is getting two rooms. All we have to do is make room for exercise bikes and food tables.
3. What seating arrangements are being made for the large number of people attending?
Platforms are being put out, with chairs on and around them. Setting up two bleachers at the corners of the arena.
4. Approximately how many people are attending?
We’re hoping for around 1300 people to show up.
5. Where is everyone going to park for the game?
No extra parking, the buses for team personnel will be parked in the back of the rink.
6. For these preparations, are there certain standards that are set by Hockey Canada?
Everything we do has to be passed through Hockey Canada, we have to tell them what our plans are and get them to approve it.
Iris Dresser – Concession Operator
1. What are some of the preparations the booth has made?
We ordered more of everything we already have, getting more workers.
2. Are they hiring more people for game night?
Yes. I’m hoping to have about 8 – 9 people stationed at different places in the booth.
3. The Unity Arena is known for having the “Best Burger in Saskatchewan”, how many are you expecting to sell?
Figuring around 500, if not more.
4. Is there going to be a lot of extra food made?
Instead of cooking all the burgers fresh, some will be pre-made.
5. Are there going to be any special renovations made to the booth?
Sadly, no.
6. Is there going to be a larger variety of food items for the game?
No, we have the same old food that we normally have, just lots more of it.
